Cannot Add Favorites in IE10 on Windows 8 - Access is Denied

I recently upgraded my Lenovo laptop from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro.  One of the side effects I noticed was that I was unable to add favorites in Internet Explorer.  I kept getting an "Access is denied" error.  Very annoying and frustrating.

After many hours of troubleshooting, I finally found a solution that wokred for me.  Here is what I did:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt.
  2. Change directory to "%USERPROFLE%".  In command promt, type command "cd \".  Then type "cd users\<username>" (where <username> is the actual username of your account.
  3. Type the following command: icacls favorites /setintegritylevel Level:low

After running the above command, I was able to save favorites again.
