Configuring Remote Access to Avaya Embedded Voicemail To Check Voice Messages

In a scenario where you have analog/copper lines connected to an Avaya IP Office and the Telco carrier has configured rollover hunt group for the main line, you can configure DTMF breakout under the Voicemail tab of each user or globally at the system level.

Scenario:  Company has the following numbers assigned to their copper phone lines:

  • 555-555-1000 (Main Number)
  • 555-555-1021
  • 555-555-1022

If 3 calls come into the Avaya IPO almost simultaneously to the main number 1000, the 2nd and 3rd caller will automatically rollover to 555-555-1021 & 555-555-1022 respectively.  It is not ideal to assign one of the numbers to be dedicated to accessing voicemail directly.

The ideal solution would be to configure DTMF Breakout.  This allows users to call into their own voice mailbox and dial  a code *0, *2, or *3 to be forwarded into voicemail retrieval.
