Polycom Provisioning Server for VVX Phones | sip.ld file download keeps getting aborted

Issue Description:

I have a Polycom Provisioning Server configured as follows:

  • Windows 2012 Standard Edition Server
  • FileZilla FTP Server
  • Common.cfg shared configuration file
  • UCS 5.4 Software
  • DHCP options 160 has been configured properly to point to Provisioning Server FTP URL.

Based on the FileZilla log, phones are reaching the FTP Server when they boot up. However, the sip.ld file download keeps getting aborted. Anyone ever run into this issue?

Here is a screenshot of the error message:

*** Warning*** Configuration Error: Missing files, config. reverted

Cause:

Turns out that the phones did not like the shared configuration file.

Resolution:

I configured one VVX phone manually and then exported that cfg.  Then I modified the exported cfg file to include desired common settings (such as admin password change) and used this as the shared configuration file.  Voila!  Success.
